Bourpeuil is a special little village on the left bank of the river Vienne, Its neighbour L'Isle Jourdain, on the right bank across the Saint-Sylvain bridge, is known for being one of the most beautiful spots in the Valley of the Vienne. Its attractions are many and varied - for example, Chardes lake, created by one of L'Isle Jourdain's three hydro-electric dams, has a water sports centre where you can learn to water-ski. L'Isle Jourdain's magnificent viaduct is nowadays used as a cycle track and for bungee-jumping. Just five kilometres away, at Le Vigeant, the Val de Vienne motor racing circuit... (to be continued)
